.
— Pianist and composer Satoko Fujii performs with
her striking, high energy quartet that includes trumpeter and frequent collaborator Natsuki Tamura,
bassist Takeharu Hayakawa and drummer Tatsuya Yoshida, the leader of the Japanese avant-rock group, Ruins. The group's playing on their recent album,
Vulcan (Libra), is often fierce and driving, but still manages to keep a lyrical,
melodic center.
